Danae, Klimt. 

Woman sexuality is a taboo that is latent even in today’s society.  Jokes are constant in movies regarding male pleasure, masturbation and desire. But women’s sexuality  is kept in the dark, as something to be suggested but never made a fact. As everything regarding human deviations, there are in fact references, explicit shows and novels dedicated to the theme. What can be observed in this painting of Klimt  is that  the  natural beauty of self-pleasure is not a new thing  under the sun. Danae is shown being impregnated by Zeus. Sans dog, sans maid, sans liter.  Only the shape of a woman, nude-  lost in pleasure.  Experts on Klimt suggest that the dark triangles represent male virility.  Subtle  details like her open mouth, flushed cheeks, closed eyes denote the orgasm. A hand between the tights and another one clenched represents Danae’s  masturbation. The erotic idea of the paining is denoted in the combination of warm colours and general roundness of the figure.
