Art is the light that shines over us, either to show us the true nature of the shadows or to help us dance with them. Art is what makes the darkness of everyday life brighter-this blog is an entrance to what art is for me. I'm 19, a mexican studying communications in Spain in love with art, vampires and candy. Las paletas se convierten en cigarros. Las inocentes en putas. La tarea va a la basura. Los celulares se usan en clase. Suspensión se convierte en expulsión. El refresco se convierte en vodka. Las bicicletas se vuelven carros. Los besos se convierten en sexo. ¿Recuerdas cuando viajar volando significaba columpiarte en el parque? ¿Cuando “protección” significaba usar casco? ¿Cuando lo peor que podías obtener de un niño eran piojos? Los hombros de papá eran el lugar más alto del mundo y tu mamá era tu héroe. Tu peores enemigos eran tus hermanos. Los problemas de velocidad eran causados por quien corría más rápido. “Guerra” era sólo un juego de cartas y la única droga que conocías era la medicina para la tos. Cuando usar una falda no te convertía en puta. El dolor más fuerte que sentías era tus rodillas raspadas y “adíos” era sólo hasta mañana. Y no pudimos esperar a crecer.
